The Secret Weapons: Little-Known Tricks for Fat Loss

Stubborn body fat – the bane of a dieter’s existence. While science has proven that spot reduction is impossible, it’s also come far enough to clue us in to the secrets behind systemically reducing stubborn fat stores. Often held subcutaneously (below the skin), stubborn fat stores tend to be in different places depending on gender; for males, they’re around the love handles and lower back, while for women, they’re around the butt, hips, and thighs.

Unfortunately, the fat in these stubborn areas becomes MORE stubborn as you get further and further into a diet. This is due to changes in hormonal release and sensitivity to those hormones – particularly insulin. As you diet down, the fat cells in the areas that seem to be impossible to lean out become more and more sensitive to insulin. This results in nutrients being shuttled to those areas more rapidly and with higher priority than the other tissues within your body.

So how do we avoid this? We need to regulate the insulin sensitivity/resistance among all the tissues of your body, and the best way to do that is via a cyclical diet.

There are two phases to this approach –

  1. Consume fewer calories, burn fewer calories.
  2. Consume more calories, burn more calories.

During both of these phases, you’ll want to maintain the same caloric deficit (Calories eaten – Calories burned), but the purposes behind each phase are drastically different. Each compliments the other, and together they serve to regulate your body’s production and sensitivity to insulin and cortisol.

During Phase 1, the goal is to decrease your caloric intake and subsequently decrease your caloric expenditure. During Phase 2, you’ll increase your calories in order to stimulate insulin resistance in the stubborn fat cells... but you’ll increase calorie expenditure via cardio to match the increase. In doing this, your caloric deficit will remain the same, but your insulin resistance will be super charged within the stubborn fat stores.

In addition to this, there are a few supplements that serve to act upon receptors (alpha adrenergic receptors and beta adrenergic receptors) that regulate insulin sensitivity in the problem areas. Yohimbine HCl is a potent and cheap alpha receptor antagonist, and Synephrine and Ephredra are both potent beta receptor agonists. Both will serve to assist in burning away those last few pounds of stubborn fat, especially when factored into a cyclical dieting regimen like the one mentioned above.
